Welcome to Westlock Dental Centre, our professionals know that dental health is not just about white smiles: it’s about having strong teeth and healthy gums. Our mission is to help our patients accomplish these goals in a compassionate, and efficient way.
We aim to educate our patients in a safe environment while offering them necessary comprehensive care. We understand that many people have anxiety about dental treatment, so we created a soothing environment and a scheduling system that never keeps you waiting long. Our goal is to give our patients the best care possible.
Our Dentists
Dr. Ousama Kabalan
Dr. Kabalan was born and raised in Calgary and moved to Edmonton in 2010 when he started his dental education at the University of Alberta. Since then, he has been active in pursuing continuing education with a focus on surgical and restorative techniques to help give his patients the best service he possibly can. Ousama is committed to making sure he is available for his patients when they need him, and believes that communication and compassion are critical to a good relationship.
Ousama started with Westlock Dental Centre in 2016, and immediately fell in love with the community and its people – especially the amazing group he gets to work with every day! Outside of work, his hobbies include fitness, travel, baking, and spending time with his friends & two cats (but he will swear to you that he is more of a dog person).
Dr. Matt Roshko
Dr. Roshko grew up on a farm northwest of Redwater, Alberta, attending the University of Alberta where he studied Kinesiology before entering and completing the Doctor of Dental Surgery program.
Matt is excited to be back in the area and working in our close-knit community. He looks forward to meeting and helping the hard-working people of Westlock and surrounding area.
Dr. Roshko values honesty and empathy, believing that patient comfort and care are the highest priorities.
Giving back to the community is something he enjoys which is why he has volunteered locally at the SHINE Dental Clinic on Boyle Street in Edmonton and traveled to Guatemala to provide dental care in poverty stricken areas with Kindness in Action. He hopes to continue volunteering his skills in the future.
You can find Dr. Roshko exercising, playing sports and fishing in his spare time. Be sure to ask him the next time you see him where the fish are biting!
Dr. G.S. (Mintoo) Basahti
Dr. Mintoo Basahti has been in the local area almost his entire life. He attended elementary and junior high school in Ft. Assiniboine and high school in Barrhead.
When the opportunity arose to join Westlock Dental Centre after his graduation from the University of Alberta School of Dentistry, he couldn’t resist coming back home.
Dr. Basahti maintained his ties to the Dental School as a part time clinical instructor as well as a supervising dentist at student teaching clinics in northern Alberta.
He maintains his commitment to continuing education through his memberships in the Edmonton & District Dental Society, the Alberta Dental Association & College and the Canadian Dental Association.
He has served on the Executive Committees of both the EDDS and the ADA&C and has also been President of both organizations.
Dr. Basahti is dedicated to the profession of Dentistry and public protection. He is currently serving as Chair of the ADA&C Continuing Competence Committee. He is also a Board Member of The National Dental Examining Board.
He continues to enjoy interacting with his patients and taking the time to answer all their questions. Helping them to make the best informed choices about their dental health as part of their overall health is the best part of being Dentist!
Wanda
Wanda is a Dental Assistant and is proud to be an employee at Westlock Dental Centre for nearly 25 years!! She is an active participant in the dentistry world by updating her dental education by attending various dental conferences and has been a member of the College of Alberta Dental Assistants, and the Edmonton Dental Assistant Association for 41 years. Wanda has participated in the Dentistry for All Program - volunteering her services for 2 weeks assisting with dentistry in the poverty stricken areas of Nicaragua…. And she shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon!!

Ramona
Ramona is a Dental Hygienist with Westlock Dental Centre and has been with our clinic since 1998. She is a local girl that grew up in Jarvie and always loved going to the dentist as a child, so it’s no surprise she choose a career in the dental field. Ramona graduated from NAIT in Dental Assisting and in 2007 became a Dental Hygienist graduating in Toronto.
Ramona is a member of the Soul Sister Memorial foundation along with the 100 Women of Westlock charity and former 4-H member. She finds it relaxing to cook, bake, yard work, refinishing furniture usually starting when most are getting ready for bed as she has been a night owl her whole life. Costco is her happy place so if she ever goes missing we can probably find her already there or on her way!
Stephanie
Stephanie was born and raised in Barrhead, while she moved to Vancouver and graduated in 2018 from the Vancouver College of Dental Hygiene she decided to return to Barrhead upon graduation. Stephanie is a Dental Hygienist and has been with Westlock Dental Centre for just over a year and loves working in a small town practice where she can get to know the patients and see so many familiar faces coming into the office, especially watching all the little smiles grow.
While most of her down time is spent outside on the family farm helping with all the work that each season brings, Stephanie spends her weekends working with seniors at the long term care centre in Barrhead.
Lucie
Lucie is a Registered Dental Assistant with Westlock Dental Centre and will always have a smile for you anytime you see her. She started with Westlock Dental Centre in 1992 when Dr. Basahti hired her green off the street and provided her with the opportunity and support required to complete the distance learning Registered Dental Assistant program through NAIT. Apart from a few years that she moved away Lucie has been with Westlock Dental Centre ever since.
Yearly she gets to do the kindergarten visits teaching the kids how to brush and floss, explaining visits to the dental office and the importance of Oral Health. Last year Lucie got to see 180 kids in the community, it is one of her favourite times of year.
Leanna
Leanna is our Patient Care Manager and one of our friendly voices that will answer your calls and be the first smile to greet you as you enter our office. She has been a dedicated and experienced member of our WDC team for over 13 years and has been in the dental field caring for patients for over 18 years. Her knowledge and ability to assist patients with their dental and insurance concerns makes scheduling appointments an ease. Leanna’s laughter and humorous antics always brighten the day.
Leanna’s “motto” is - “It’s not the amount of time, it’s quality time”.
Christine
Christine is part of our front end staff at Westlock Dental Centre. She grew up in Legal and moved to Westlock after meeting her husband Brad. They have two wonderful kids, the second just graduated. Christine loves farming alongside Brad, pulling him out of the mud, and bottle feeding baby calves.
She enjoys spending time with friends and family, camping and doing her yard work. Christine has been with Westlock Dental Centre for 20 years and loves not only interacting with the patients but how her co-workers feel like family!
